Race Report

RACE-4 THE NORFOLK RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1510 METRES (215)

2 Golden Double (S Nakano) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Rocket Along (L Corrales) -On jumping away was tightened for room between 1 Hostwin Meraki and 4 Eastern Paradise, both of which shifted ground marginally.
4 Eastern Paradise (R Maia) -Checked near the 250 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident near the 250 metres whereby 4 Eastern Paradise was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of the following horses 3 Rocket Along (L Corrales), 4 Eastern Paradise (R Maia) and 5 Mujaan (W Smith). Jockey W Smith the rider of 5 Mujaan pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 250 metres whilst riding his mount along he permitted 5 Mujaan to shift in when insufficiently clear of 4 Eastern Paradise which had to be checked. Jockey W Smith’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of 3rd May 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his record, his guilty plea, the degree of interference and the minor shift outwards from 3 Rocket Along at the point of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
