Race Report

RACE-5 THE CORDOBA RATING 45-0 (CLASS 4&5) 1800 METRES (222)

3 Beauty Princess (R Maia) -Bumped with 7 Taolu Expert on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Golden Victory (W L Ho) -Raced wide without cover leaving the 500 metres.
7 Taolu Expert (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Bumped with 3 Beauty Princess on jumping away. Checked leaving the 250 metres.
8 Fort Idaho (W Smith) -Jumped away awkwardly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident leaving the 250 metres where 1 Anak (K Leung) was tightened for room and 7 Taolu Expert (Apprentice C L Cheung) had to be checked. Jockey M Nunes the rider of 4 Thunder Bear pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 250 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 1 Anak (K Leung) which was tightened for room and taken in onto 7 Taolu Expert which had to be checked. Jockey M Nunes was suspended from riding in races for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday 20th April 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his record, the degree of interference and the racing manners of his mount at the point of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
