Race Report

RACE-3 SJM MACAU DERBY TRIAL (GROUP 3) 4YO 1500 METRES (232)

3 Big Alloy (L Corrales) -Was bumped by 11 The Macallan on jumping away. Near the 400 metres was brushed by 4 Lover Paradise which shifted out.
4 Lover Paradise (K Leung) -Bumped with 12 Trillion King on jumping away. Raced fiercely in the middle stages. Near the 250 metres was disappointed for a run between 2 Luen On Dance Kid and 6 Fortune Treasure which shifted out slightly and a short distance later was again disappointed for a run between 3 Big Alloy and 2 Luen On Dance Kid which shifted out. 4 Lover Paradise was then shifted in across the heels of 2 Luen On Dance Kid to obtain clear running.
5 Eclair Lightning (S Nakano) -Was held up rounding the home turn and was unable to establish clear running in the home straight until leaving the final 100 metres.
8 Garlic And Spicy (H Lam) -Was marginally slow to begin. Was held up rounding the home turn and the early stages of the home straight.
9 Loxwood (R Maia) -Was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and was unable to establish clear running until near the 250 metres.
11 The Macallan (W L Ho) -Bumped with 3 Big Alloy on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Trillion King (Y M Choi) -Bumped with 4 Lover Paradise on jumping away.
14 Qipao Queen (C F Chan) -Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey K Leung the rider of 4 Lover Paradise (4th placed getter) against 2 Luen On Dance Kid (O Chavez), 2nd placed getter alleging interference in the home straight. Evidence was taken from Jockey K Leung, in the presence of Mr. Y C Fung the trainer of 4 Lover Paradise and Jockey O Chavez in the presence of Mr. G Allendorf the trainer of 2 Luen On Dance Kid. After considering all of the evidence and reviewing the patrol films, it was established that near the 250 metres 4 Lover Paradise was disappointed for a run between 2 Luen On Dance Kid and 6 Fortune Treasure which shifted out slightly under pressure. A short distance later 4 Lover Paradise was again disappointed for a run between 3 Big Alloy and 2 Luen On Dance Kid which shifted out under pressure. As the Stewards could not be fully satisfied that the interference suffered to 4 Lover Paradise was solely caused by 2 Luen On Dance Kid and taking into consideration of the margin of one length, the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared on the Judge’s placings.
