Race Report

RACE-3 MACAU GUINEAS (GROUP 1) RATING 4YO () 1500 METRES (256)

2 Sheng Li Superstar (W L Ho) -Near the 200 metres shifted in abruptly of its own accord and made contact with the running rail. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that a warning was issued on the gelding in relation to its racing manners. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Luen On Dance Kid (O Chavez) -Was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 200 metres had to be checked away from the heels of 2 Sheng Li Superstar which shifted in abruptly, made contact with the running rail and lost ground. 4 Luen On Dance Kid was then unable to establish clear running and went to the finish line without being fully tested. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Lover Paradise (R Maia) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey R Maia explained to the Stewards that on entering the back straight, when caught racing three wide without cover to the outside of 11 Simply Impeccable, he considered allowing 5 Lover Paradise to stride forward and attempt to obtain a position closer to the running rail in front of 11 Simply Impeccable however having ridden the gelding previously, he was of the opinion that 5 Lover Paradise is unable to work hard in the early stages and be strong at the end of its races. Therefore he elected to maintain the position three wide albeit without cover and have 5 Lover Paradise travelling comfortably and the gelding proved competitive in today’s race. After considering all of the circumstances the Stewards noted his explanation.
6 Ojala (Y M Choi) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Eclair Lightning (S Nakano) -Raced wide with cover throughout.
9 Fortune Treasure (T Appie) -Shortly after the start momentarily raced in restricted room between 11 Simply Impeccable and 2 Sheng Li Superstar which shifted out and away from 4 Luen On Dance Kid.
10 Mission Vision (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Simply Impeccable (H Lam) - Near the 100 metres had its hindquarters bumped by 13 Fortune Generation which was taken out by 4 Luen On Dance Kid.
12 Collateral Mission (S Ladjadj) -Raced wide with cover throughout.
13 Fortune Generation (K K Lai) -Was held up rounding the home turn and on entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between 2 Sheng Li Superstar and 11 Simply Impeccable both of which shifted ground slightly. Near the 100 metres had to be checked.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident leaving the 200 metres where 4 Luen On Dance Kid and 13 Fortune Generation had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Sheng Li Superstar (W L Ho), 4 Luen On Dance Kid (O Chavez), 11 Simply Impeccable (H Lam) and 13 Fortune Generation (K K Lai). After reviewing the official patrol film and considering the evidence, it was established that leaving the 200 metres 2 Sheng Li Superstar shifted in abruptly of its own accord and made contact with the running rail resulting in 4 Luen On Dance Kid, which was held up behind 2 Sheng Li Superstar, having to be checked and shifted out bumping heavily with 13 Fortune Generation which in turn was taken out onto the hind quarter of 11 Simply Impeccable and subsequently had to be checked when tightened for room between 11 Simply Impeccable and 2 Sheng Li Superstar both of which shifted ground slightly. After considering all the circumstance the Stewards could not portion blame to any one rider and took no further action other than to place a warning on the racing manners of 2 Sheng Li Superstar and advised all riders to exercise care in similar circumstances in future.
