Race Report

RACE-4 THE LANZHOU RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1510 METRES (263)

2 Eclair Sunshine (S Nakano) -Raced wide rounding the first turn, before being allowed to stride forward and obtain the lead near the 1000 metres.
4 Mission Vision (K K Lai) -Jumped away awkwardly. Leaving the winning post on the first occasion raced in restricted room and had to be steadied. Thereafter raced ungenerously for a short distance and shifted wider on the track. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that 4 Mission Vision which was beaten in excess of 31 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
7 River God Choi (O Chavez) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Ashkari (W Smith) -Was slow to begin.
11 Franklin Lane (S Ladjadj) -Had a tendency to lay in throughout the race.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the winning on the first occasion where 4 Mission Vision had to be steadied and lost its position. Evidence was taken from the riders of 4 Mission Vision (K K Lai), 10 My Dream (Apprentice C L Cheung) and 11 Franklin Lane (S Ladjadj). It was established that leaving the winning post on the first occasion, 11 Franklin Lane had a tendency to lay in and away from runners to its outside and at the same time 4 Mission Vision which had jumped awkwardly improved quickly into a narrow run to its inside. As a result 4 Mission Vision was tightened for room between 10 My Dream and 11 Franklin Lane and had to be steadied. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards were of the opinion that when 11 Franklin Lane commenced to lay in, it was initially clear of 4 Mission Vision and taking into consideration the speed at which 4 Mission Vision improved to its inside, the Stewards could not fully attribute blame to Jockey S Ladjadj the rider of 11 Franklin Lane. The Stewards however advised Jockey S Ladjadj that he would be expected make a greater effort to straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
