Race Report

RACE-2 THE PALERMO RATING 55-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1200 METRES (296)
This race was rescheduled to start at 4:20PM.

1 Qipao Queen (C F Chan) -Was checked near the 700 metres.
2 Tremendous Wins (L Corrales) - Had a tendency to lay out under pressure near the 250 metres.
5 Beat The Market (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Near the 250 metres was hampered by 2 Tremendous Wins which had a tendency to lay out under pressure despite the efforts of its rider. Jockey L Corrales the rider of 2 Tremendous Wins was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
6 Wittymaster (O Chavez) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Near the 300 metres rider accidentally dropped his whip. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 River Sky (K K Lai) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident which took place near the 700 metres whereby 1 Qipao Queen had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Qipao Queen (C F Chan) and 7 River Sky (K K Lai). Jockey K K Lai the rider of 7 River Sky pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i), in that near the 700 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of 1 Qipao Queen which had to be checked. Jockey K K Lai’s licence to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting covering the meeting of 6 July 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, the degree of interference, the racing manners of his mount at the point the incident and his riding record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
