Race Report

RACE-4 THE RANCHI (DIV.3) RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (316)

2 The Happy Prince (K Mizuno) -Near the 500 metres had to be eased momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Trillion King which was racing unnecessarily tight to its outside. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 3 Trillion King was issued with a severe reprimand for having 2 The Happy Prince unnecessarily tight to his inside and was further advised that should he continue to ride in such a manner more severe action may be taken.
3 Trillion King (W L Ho) -
4 Tavezbac (L Corrales) -Was checked shortly after the start between 6 Mountain Tiger and 5 Captain Fabulous both of which shifted ground. Jockeys R Maia and F Henrique, the riders of 5 Captain Fabulous and 6 Mountain Tiger were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 4 Tavezbac which was beaten in excess of 29 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
5 Captain Fabulous (R Maia) -Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Northern Legend (V Tolentino) -Raced wide rounding the home turn.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
“Correct Weight” was delayed when the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey K Mizuno the rider of 2 The Happy Prince (3rd placegetter) against 3 Trillion King (W L Ho) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 500 metres. Evidence was taken from both riders in the presence of their respective trainers Mr. M C Tam and Mr. S H Cheong. After reviewing the official patrol film and considering the evidence, it was established that near the 500 metres 2 The Happy Prince had to be eased momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Trillion King which was racing unnecessarily tight to its outside. After considering all the evidence and taking into careful consideration the Official Margin of ½ length, the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred 2 The Happy Prince would have beaten 3 Trillion King to the finish and therefore the Stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the judge. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey W L Ho the rider of 3 Trillion King was issued with a severe reprimand for having 2 The Happy Prince unnecessarily tight to his inside and was further advised that should he continue to ride in such a manner more severely actions may be taken.
