Race Report

RACE-1 THE FAROL DA GUIA RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (329)

1 Lucky Gold (L Corrales) -Leaving the 200 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 8 Electroplate Alloy which shifted in and away under pressure from the riderless 4 Chapman Way which was shifting in. After considering all the circumstances, in particular the contribution from the riderless 4 Chapman Way, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise Jockey R Maia to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
2 Capital Protector (W L Ho) -Was examined behind the barriers at the request of the Jockey and was passed fit to race. Raced fiercely in the early stages.
3 Chappo (F Henrique) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover leaving the 500 metres.
4 Chapman Way (M Autier) -Jumped away awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier partition resulting in Jockey M Autier becoming unbalanced in the saddle and a short distance later was dislodged. Jockey M Autier was subsequently examined by the Club’s medical officer and cleared to continue riding.
5 Beautiful Creative (O Chavez) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Tuhao Power (W Smith) - Raced fiercely in the early stages. Was held up rounding the home turn.
10 Wealthy Honour (S Ladjadj) -Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry Sign” was semaphored to allow the Stewards to review the patrol videos of the start of the race to ascertain whether 4 Chapman Way (M Autier) had been afforded a fair start. It was established that when the start was effected 4 Chapman Way made contact with the outside barrier partition, resulting in Jockey M Autier, the rider of 4 Chapman Way becoming severely unbalanced in the saddle and a short distance later was dislodged. As the Stewards were satisfied that 4 Chapman Way had been afforded every opportunity of a fair start, it was declared a runner.
The Stewards also reviewed the video of the start to ascertain whether 7 Gem General (H Lam) had gain an unfair advantage at the start. It was established that as the start was effected, 7 Gem General anticipated the start giving the impression that it had gained an unfair advantage from the rest of the field. As Stewards were satisfied that all runners had been afforded equally fair starts and 7 Gem General had not gained an unfair advantage, correct weight was semaphored.
