Race Report

RACE-5 THE NANJING RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1800 METRES (114)

2 Lucky General (S Nakano) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages. Was inclined to hang out from the 500 metres and made the home turn wide. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
3 Stallion Treasure (O Chavez) - Near the 1200 metres when the pace of the race steadied raced up onto the heels of 9 Autumn Passage and was shifted wider on the track. Was then obliged to race wide without cover for the remainder of the event. Had a tendency to lay in the home straight.
4 Wonder Holy (F Henrique) -Leaving the 200 metres was momentarily eased when racing tight to the inside of 12 Fort Idaho which after being disappointed for a run between 6 Die Casting Alloy and 10 Thunder Bear improved quickly into a narrow run between the tiring 4 Wonder Holy and 6 Die Casting Alloy. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards too no further action, other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Rider was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance today other than that it never felt comfortable in its action. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K C Chong was informed that he would be required to present 4 Wonder Holy to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 15 December 2019.
6 Die Casting Alloy (K H Yu) -Raced wide without cover until approaching 1000 metres. Rider reported that he had to work hard in the early stages to obtain a position outside of 4 Wonder Holy and in his opinion this as well as the gelding having its first start over 1800 metres had contributed to the disappointing performance today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Victory Achiever (L Corrales) -Was resaddled behind the barriers. Was slow to begin. Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight was held up and was unable to establish clear running until near the 200 metres.
8 Fly Dragon (B Yamzon) - Jumped away awkwardly. Leaving the winning post on the first occasion raced ungenerously for some distance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Autumn Passage (R Maia) -Jumped away awkwardly.
10 Thunder Bear (S Ladjadj) -Was held up rounding the home turn. Near the 150 metres was eased momentarily when racing close to the heels of 5 Taolu Expert.
11 Honey Biscuit (D Barros) -Was slow into stride. Leaving the 200 metres was taken in by 1 Highspot which was shifting in under pressure when not fully clear. Jockey J B Hamel the rider of 1 Highspot was issued a severe reprimand and was advised in similar circumstances in future he would be expected to make a greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting than he did on this occasion.
12 Fort Idaho (T Appie) -Leaving the 200 metres was disappointed for a run between 6 Die Casting Alloy and 10 Thunder Bear. Was then shifted inwards into a narrow run between 4 Wonder Holy and 6 Die Casting Alloy.
