Race Report

RACE-3 WINTER TROPHY OPEN (GROUP 2) 1800 METRES (137)

1 Pearl Green (F Henrique) - Shortly after the start had to be eased away from the heels of 8 Garlic And Chili which shifted out slightly.
2 Kelowna Star (D Barros) -Leaving the 1300 metres raced in restricted room for some distance between 1 Pearl Green which shifted out slightly and 5 Royal Garden which was racing tight to its outside. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards advised both riders 1 Pearl Green (F Henrique) and 5 Royal Garden (L Corrales) to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
3 Advance Mission (W H Lao) -Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Royal Garden (L Corrales) -Raced wide without cover until leaving the 1000 metres. Leaving the 600 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 1 Pearl Green which shifted out to improve. Rider reported that his mount did not race with its usual enthusiasm today and was struggling to hold its position leaving the 600 metres. He further added that in his opinion 5 Royal Garden may now have come to the end of its preparation. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K M Chin was informed that he would be required to present 5 Royal Garden to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 13 January 2020.
6 Krystrump (B Yamzon) -Approaching the 1000 metres was bumped by 7 Luen On Dance Kid which had a tendency to lay out. Leaving the 900 metres raced ungenerously and was then obliged to race wide without cover for the remainder of the event. Near the 250 metres shifted in slightly and made contact with the hindquarters of 4 Bring Me Speed which shifted out slightly away from 7 Luen On Dance Kid which shifted out under pressure. A short distance later was steadied when again bumped by 4 Bring Me Speed which after having its hindquarters turned in the initial contact with 6 Krystrump continued to shift out slightly away from 7 Luen On Dance Kid which had continued to shift out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey O Chavez the rider of 7 Luen On Dance Kid a severe reprimand in that although there were contributing factors to 6 Krystrump being bumped and having to be steadied, in their opinion he should have made a greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting out sooner than he did on this occasion.
7 Luen On Dance Kid (O Chavez) -Had a tendency to shift out in the home straight.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards to ascertain whether 3 Advance Mission had been afforded a fair start. After reviewing the patrol films, it was established that 3 Advance Mission stood flat footed of its own accord and lost considerable ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that 3 Advance Mission had been afforded a fair start, correct weight was declared. Trainers K C Tse and K S Ho were informed that in view of the barrier manners of 3 Advance Mission, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
