2 Golden Key (K H Yu) -Hung in away from 9 Chapman Way shortly after the start despite the efforts of its rider. Warning issued. Raced fiercely with its head up in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that he will be required to present 2 Golden Key to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 8 March 2020.
3 Felizmaster (F Henrique) -Jumped away awkwardly.
4 Mission Vision (L Corrales) -Was slow to begin. Had a tendency to hang out around the home turn and leaving the 250 metres when struck with the whip had a tendency to lay out and had to be corrected by its rider.
5 Wealthy East (Y M Choi) A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Californiatreasure (B Yamzon) -Shortly after the start was hampered by 12 Luen On Success which was taken in abruptly by 2 Golden Key which was hanging in and away from 9 Chapman Way despite the efforts of its rider. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards informed Mr. Y C Fung the trainer of 2 Golden Key that a warning had been issued for its racing manners. Near the 250 metres had to alter course outwards when taken out by 12 Luen On Success which shifted out around the heels of 9 Chapman Way to obtain clear running. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey M Tanaka the rider of 12 Luen On Success with a severe reprimand and advised him that he would be expected to be sufficiently clear when shifting ground at all times.

11 Luen On Steed (H Lam) -Leaving the 800 metres blundered.
12 Luen On Success (M Tanaka) -Held up rounding the home turn.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
“Correct Weight” was delayed to allow Trainer C F Chan and Jockey S Nakano the rider of 8 Chappo (3rd place getter) to review the patrol films of the concluding stages to ascertain whether there were sufficient grounds to lodge an objection against 6 Californiatreasure (B Yamzon), 2nd place getter by the Judge. After reviewing the films, they both did not wish to proceed any further.
At the same time, in the absence of Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 6 Californiatreasure ( 2nd place getter), the Stewards reviewed the patrol films of the home straight to ascertain whether 6 Californiatreasure had sufficient grounds to lodge an objection against 12 Luen On Success (M Tanaka) being declared the winner, in regards to an incident near the 250 metres. After viewing the films, the Stewards invited Jockey B Yamzon to exercise his right to review the patrol films to determine whether he was of the opinion there were sufficient grounds to lodge an objection against 12 Luen On Success.. After reviewing the films, Jockey B Yamzon did not wish to proceed and after further deliberation, the Stewards also did not wish to proceed with an objection and “Correct Weight” was semaphored.
After considering all of the circumstances, Jockey B Yamzon was severely reprimanded for having failed to avail himself of the opportunity to view the patrols films to determine whether grounds existed for an objection.
At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 6 Californiatreasure pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear 8 Chappo which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey B Yamzon’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of Saturday, 30 May and Saturday, 6 June 2020. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey B Yamzon’s guilty plea, his riding record, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
