Race Report

RACE-4 THE JUNK BAY RATING 85-55 (CLASS 2) 1800 METRES (190)

1 Tavezbac (J B Hamel) -Had a tendency to race fiercely in the early and middle stages. A post veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 1 Tavezbac will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary clearance is produced.
2 Brilliant Debbie (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Leaving the 1400 metres when making the crossing bumped the running rail. Had a tendency to race fiercely in the early stages. Near the 350 metres steadied when disappointed for a run between 5 The Moon's Back and 11 Grand Double Win, both of which shifted ground.
4 Victory Moment (W H Lao) - Raced fiercely in the middle stages. A post veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 The Moon's Back (T Appie) -Raced wide without cover until near the 1000 metres. A post veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Sixth Sense (C F Chan) -Was slow to begin.
7 Eclair Hunter (F Henrique) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages.
8 Modena Best (S Ladjadj) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
9 Qian Gua (K K Lai) -Jumped away awkwardly. The Stewards intend to question Trainer K H Leong with regards to the apparent improved performance of 9 Qian Gua.
10 Tagmaster (D Barros) -Near the 1600 metres had to be steadied from the heels of 9 Qian Gua which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey K K Lai the rider of 9 Qian Gua was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when not fully clear of runners. Raced fiercely in the middle stages.
11 Grand Double Win (L Corrales) -Was slow to begin. Raced fiercely in the early stages. Near the 850 metres when the pace of the race slowed had to be checked when tightened for room by 7 Eclair Hunter which was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of 1 Tavezbac which lost ground when steadying when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Victory Moment which was being steadied at that point of the event. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards could not portion blame to anyone rider, other than to advise all riders concerned to exercise more care, in particular advised Jockey F Henrique that in similar circumstances in future, he is to ensure that he makes a greater effort to look after runners to his inside.
12 Golden Victory (H Lam) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages.
