2 Oriental Profit (Y M Choi) -Had a tendency to lay in down the back straight. Raced wide without cover throughout.
3 Smart Win (L Corrales) -On entering the home straight had to be checked.
4 Tavezbac (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Near the 50 metres shifted out slightly under pressure and had to be steadied away from the heels of 7 Electroplate Alloy which shifted in under pressure. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
5 Green Fortune (W L Ho) -Was marginally slow to begin. Near the 1100 metres raced fiercely and had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between 4 Tavezbac and 11 Captain Fabulous. After taking evidence from the riders of 4 Tavezbac (Apprentice C L Cheung), 5 Green Fortune (W L Ho), 11 Captain Fabulous (M Tanaka), 7 Electroplate Alloy (K H Yu) and 3 Smart Win (L Corrales) and viewing all of the available patrol films, the Stewards could not portion blame to any one rider and took no further action other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
6 Desi Style (H Lam) -Shifted out under pressure rounding the home turn.
8 Stadium (F Henrique) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 The Moon's Back (T Appie) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Captain Fabulous (M Tanaka) -Over the concluding stages raced tight between 3 Smart Win and 7 Electroplate Alloy and went to the line without being fully tested.
12 James Street (S Ladjadj) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. When questioned regarding his riding of 12 James Street, in particular the reasons for racing wide throughout without cover, Jockey S Ladjadj stated that in the early stages his mount resented racing in the heavy kickback which also resulted in him having some visibility issues. He added he then made the decision to position 12 James Street wider on the track to avoid the kickback where 12 James Street then traveled reasonably. He added however, in the home straight 12 James Street was one paced and did not finish the race off as expected. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards noted his explanation, however reminded Jockey S Ladjadj of his obligations to ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident in the home straight where 3 Smart Win had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Oriental Profit (Y M Choi), 3 Smart Win (L Corrales) and 6 Desi Style (H Lam). It was established that rounding the home turn, 6 Desi Style shifted out under pressure to a point where it had 3 Smart Win racing tight to its outside. A short distance later on entering the home straight 2 Oriental Profit then shifted in under pressure resulting in 3 Smart Win being tightened for room between 2 Oriental Profit and 6 Desi Style and had to be checked. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey H Lam the rider of 6 Desi Style a reprimand for permitting his mount to shift out when not fully clear. The Stewards also issued Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 2 Oriental Profit a severe reprimand for failing to correct his mount when it commenced to shift ground and further advised him that should he continue to ride in such a manner, further action may be taken.
