Race Report

RACE-3 THE ZAMBOANGA RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1500 METRES (201)

1 Pearl Green (F Henrique) -Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Near the 900 metres was taken wider on the track when heavily bumped by 4 Lover Paradise which when over racing on the heels of 9 Luen On Dance Kid for some distance, shifted out. There after raced wide with cover. After considering all of the circumstances, in particular the racing manners of 4 Lover Paradise, the Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning on 4 Lover Paradise in relation to its racing manners. Rider reported although being obliged to race wide throughout his mount raced flat and in the home straight was one paced. He added in his opinion 1 Pearl Green may have come to the end of its preparation and may benefit from a break from racing.
4 Lover Paradise (K H Yu) -Rounding the first turn raced fiercely and proved difficult to settle. Near the 900 metres continued to race fiercely and shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 9 Luen On Dance Kid in turn bumping 1 Pearl Green which was forced wider on the track. Thereafter continued to race fiercely and wide throughout. Leaving the 200 metres when tiring had to be eased away from the heels of 1 Pearl Green which shifted out under pressure. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that a warning had been placed on 4 Lover Paradise for its racing manners. Rider reported that his mount raced fiercely throughout and refused to settle and in his opinion, this was a major contribution to today’s below par performance. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that he would be required to present 4 Lover Paradise to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 19 April 2020.
5 Mister Kaopu (Apprentice C L Cheung) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Bring Me Speed (S Ladjadj) -Was marginally slow to begin.
7 Eclair Sunshine (Y M Choi) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 1100 metres.
8 Royal Garden (W H Lao) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Krystrump (T Appie) -Was marginally slow to begin. Over the final 100 metres hung out under pressure and proved difficult to ride out.
12 Sixth Sense (C F Chan) -Was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that 12 Sixth Sense will not be permitted to race for 11 days until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
