Race Report

RACE-6 THE PASAY RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (204)

1 Casino Mok (W L Ho) -Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Wittymaster (L Corrales) -Hampered near the 500 metres. Leaving the 150 metres had a tendency to hang out under pressure.
5 Majimaster (D Barros) -Was checked on jumping away between 10 Garlic And Cayenne and 11 Mulan Go which shifted out after being bumped heavily by 6 Roaring Fans which in turn was taken out when bumped heavily by 3 Thar which in turn was taken out when bumped heavily by 9 You And You Alone which jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards abruptly despite the efforts of its rider W H Lao. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action other than to inform Trainer S H Cheong that 9 You And You Alone will be required to undergo a barrier trial in relation to its barrier manners. Leaving the 200 metres had some difficulty in obtaining clear running and leaving the 150 metres had to be shifted out around the heels of 6 Roaring Fans to obtain clear running.
6 Roaring Fans (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Raced fiercely in the early stages. Rider reported that leaving the 600 metres after receiving a bump from 7 Bottom Up his mount became unbalanced and was reluctant to hold its position so he elected to shift 6 Roaring Fans down to the fence in an attempt to keep his mount balanced.
8 Invincible (H Lam) -Was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start. Raced wide without cover throughout.
9 You And You Alone (W H Lao) -Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that 9 You And You Alone will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial in relation to its barrier manners.
10 Garlic And Cayenne (K H Yu) -Was fractious in the barriers. Was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
11 Mulan Go (T Appie) -Near the 500 metres raced up onto the heels of 6 Roaring Fans and had to be steadied when that runner shifted down to the fence. 4 Wittymaster and 12 Heartgoodallwell which were following were hampered in consequence. Near the 100 metres had to be checked.
12 Heartgoodallwell (C F Chan) -Hampered near the 500 metres.
13 Californiatreasure (B Yamzon) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 100 metres where 11 Mulan Go was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 11 Mulan Go (T Appie) and 3 Thar (J B Hamel). Jockey J B Hamel the rider of 3 Thar pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 100 metres, he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 11 Mulan Go which had to be checked. Jockey J B Hamel’s license to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 2 May 2020 and he was fine of HK$10,000 in lieu of one additional racemeeting. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record in particular this was his first racemeeting back from a previous suspension and the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
