Race Report

RACE-2 THE SACRAMENTO (Div.1) RATING 35-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1500 METRES (231)

2 Master Paradise (K H Yu) -Raced wide rounding the first turn and then had a tendency to race fiercely in the early and middle stages. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event and raced wide rounding the home turn. Leaving the 300 metres was bumped by 9 Fly Dragon on two occasions and became unbalanced. Rider reported that his mount raced fiercely in the early stages and was obliged to race wide throughout and added in the home straight leaving the 300 metres he received two significant bumps from 9 Fly Dragon resulting in his mount becoming unbalanced. He added as a result of being bumped, he was of the opinion that 2 Master Paradise was a beaten horse and as such he elected not to place it under full pressure for the remainder of the race. After considering all of the circumstances, whilst the Stewards noted the interference suffered to his mount leaving the 300 metres, he was nevertheless reminded of his obligations that he is to fully ride his mounts out to the end of the race whenever possible. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Luen On Steed (M Tanaka) -Was held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight had to be steadied across the heels of 4 Qipao Queen to obtain clear running.
7 Taolu Expert (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Rider reported that shortly after the start when attempting to obtain a position closer to the running rail, his mount dropped the bit and was reluctant to stride out despite his urgings and settled further back than anticipated.
9 Fly Dragon (L Corrales) -Race wide without cover throughout. Leaving the 300 metres had to be checked and made contact with 2 Master Paradise on two occasions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Impeccable Genius (H Lam) -In the early stages of the home straight was held up and had to be steadied away from the heels of 3 Lucky General.
11 Full Of Luck (T Appie) -Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier partition resulting in Jockey T Appie becoming unbalanced in the saddle for a short distance. On entering the home straight was held up for some distance and was unable to establish clear running until leaving the 200 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 300 metres were 9 Fly Dragon had to be checked and shifted out making contact with 2 Master Paradise which became unbalanced. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Master Paradise (K H Yu), 4 Qipao Queen (B Yamzon) and 9 Fly Dragon (L Corrales). Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 4 Qipao Queen pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 300 metres whilst riding his mount along he permitted 4 Qipao Queen to shift out when insufficiently clear of 9 Fly Dragon which had to be checked, lost its rightful running and in turn was taken out bumping 2 Master Paradise on two occasions which became unbalanced. Jockey B Yamzon’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 racemeetings, covering the meetings of 24 and 26 July and 2 August 2020. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, the degree of the interference and his riding record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
