Race Report
RACE-3 THE HABITAT RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (286)

Crispy Biscuit (W L Ho) -Was slow to begin and was then checked shortly after the start away from the heels of 10 Gunstigmaster which was taken out by 3 Gorgeous Bomb which hung out despite the efforts of its rider. The Stewards issued a warning against 3 Gorgeous Bomb for its racing manners. Near the 800 metres raced up onto the heels of 9 Imperial Eagle and was steadied away from that runners heels and in doing so brushed 11 Royal Good Friend. A short distance later was then taken wider on the track by 9 Imperial Eagle which shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Amazing Happy which was racing ungenerously. Leaving the 200 metres was inclined to lay in under pressure.
Gorgeous Bomb (D Barros) -Shortly after the start hung out despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer K S Wong was informed a warning had been placed against 3 Gorgeous Bomb for its racing manners. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality
Me Whee (S Ladjadj) -Was held up rounding the home turn until leaving the 300 metres.
Amazing Happy (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Was marginally slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. Rider reported that leaving the 1000 metres his saddle shifted to the near side which resulted in him becoming unbalanced in the saddle until near the 800 metres when he was then able to correct the position of his saddle.
Imperial Eagle (Y M Choi) -Was marginally slow to begin. Leaving the 800 metres shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Amazing Happy which was racing ungenerously. Was held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight was unable to establish clear running until leaving the 50 metres.
Gunstigmaster (W H Lao) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
Royal Good Friend (H Lam) -Near the 800 metres was brushed by 2 Crispy Biscuit. A short distance later was then hampered and taken wider on the track after being bumped by 2 Crispy Biscuit which was taken out by 9 Imperial Eagle which shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Amazing Happy which was racing ungenerously.
Thar (S Nakano) -Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Leaving the 500 metres was inclined to lay out and as a result made the home turn wide. When questioned regarding the performance of 12 Thar, Jockey S Nakano explained that he was instructed to lead which is consistent to the instructions given when having ridden the gelding previously and added that despite his efforts in the early stages, he was unable to obtain the lead position due to runners to his inside showing superior speed. He added when unable to lead his mount had a tendency to lay out leaving the 600 metres and from the 500 metres was inclined to hang out away from runners proving difficult to control. He stated he was reluctant to place 12 Thar under pressure from the 500 metres as when he had ridden the gelding at its most recent start, 12 Thar had a tendency to shift ground under pressure. He further added that in the home straight when placed under pressure his mount never responded and in his opinion was very disappointing. The Stewards questioned Jockey S Nakano as to the reasons rounding the home turn he made a number of exaggerated looks to his inside and outside. Jockey S Nakano stated that as his mount was inclined to lay out at that stage, he heard calls from both sides. The Stewards noted his explanation however advised him to ride his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K S Wong was informed that he would be required to present 12 Thar to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 29 June 2020.
