Race Report

RACE-6 THE CASCAIS RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1350 METRES (295)

2 Bada Baby (K H Yu) -Was marginally slow to begin and was then crowded for room between 1 Darling Ten and 3 Grateful Favors, both of which shifted ground. Was inclined to hang out from the 500 metres.
4 Mochi Mochi (Apprentice C L Cheung) -When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 4 Mochi Mochi, Trainer K M Chin explained that in his opinion the drop in grade down to 40-0 of today’s race had a significant bearing on the improved performance. He also added that 4 Mochi Mochi has shown that it performs best when able to lead out on its own in its races. The Stewards noted his explanation.
5 Not A Single Help (D Barros) -Bumped 6 Master Of Mars on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Master Of Mars (L Corrales) -Was bumped by 5 Not A Single Help on jumping away. On entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between 1 Darling Ten and 7 Tak Fai Of Pins and was then obliged to shift in across the heels of 1 Darling Ten to obtain clear running. Near the 100 metres had to be eased across the heels of 8 Showgrosve which shifted in under pressure when not fully clear. Jockey F Henrique the rider of 8 Showgrosve was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Rider reported that due to the quick tempo in the early stages, he settled further back than he had anticipated. He added his mount had a tendency to race greenly throughout the race and rounding the home turn he attempted to improve wider on the track, however as 3 Grateful Favors was racing to his outside, he was obliged to shift in to secure clear running. He further added in the home straight 6 Master Of Mars was one paced to the finish and advised that he reported to connections that in his opinion the gelding was unsuited by today’s distance of 1350 metres and may benefit with a drop back in distance to either 1050 metres or 1200 metres. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

8 Showgrosve (F Henrique) -Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
