Race Report

RACE-5 THE INVERNESS RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (318)

1 Hostwin Euphoria (L Corrales) -Over the concluding stages had to be eased away from the heels of 8 Military Star which shifted in under pressure when not fully clear. Jockey W H Lao the rider of 8 Military Star was issued with a severe reprimand and was advised that in similar circumstances in future, he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground.
2 Roaring Fans (D Barros) -Shortly after the start was eased momentarily away from the heels of 12 Ventures Elite which shifted slightly when laying in. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Lucky Pearl (W L Ho) -Was marginally slow to begin. Rounding the first turn was taken out by 8 Military Star which was hanging out. A short distance later shifted back in and bumped 8 Military Star. Rider reported that leaving the 100 metres his mount blundered and became unbalanced and as a result he was reluctant to place it under pressure. Trainer S H Cheong was informed to present 4 Lucky Pearl to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 25 July 2020.
6 Broadus (S Ladjadj) -Rider reported his mount was reluctant to stride out in the early stages and when receiving kickback was inclined to shift outwards. He added that as a result his mount settled further back than he had anticipated. He added however, from the 600 metres when improving wider on the track 6 Broadus responded under pressure and ran on to finish the race off well. The Stewards noted his explanation.
7 Destney (F Henrique) -Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
8 Military Star (W H Lao) -Rounding the first turn hung out and a short distance later was bumped by 4 Lucky Pearl which shifted in. Raced wide without cover from the 600 metres. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 8 Military Star, Trainer Y C Fung stated that he was surprised by tonight’s performance, however added that 8 Military Star had dropped significantly in class since the start of the Season and was advantaged by racing on the speed which in his opinion suited on paced runners tonight. The Stewards noted his explanation.
9 Evergreen Pegasus (H Lam) -Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that in view of the barrier manners of 9 Evergreen Pegasus, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that the gelding has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Luck Of Stratum (K H Yu) -Near the 1200 metres was inclined to race greenly and had to be corrected by its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Ventures Elite (S Nakano) -Hung in on entering the home straight and had to be corrected by its rider.
