Race Report

RACE-6 THE BARRA RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (30)

2 Striking Brahma (M Tanaka) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Fortune Fast (K H Yu) -Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition.
4 Wing Wo (W H Lao) -The Stewards inquired into the running and handling of 4 Wing Wo with regards to Jockey W H Lao’s riding from the 600 metres. Jockey W H Lao stated that as this was his mount’s first start in Macau, he was instructed to try and get a good jump and have 4 Wing Wo traveling comfortably and following the pace. He stated his mount traveled well in the early stages, however from the 600 metres commenced to hang out resulting in him having to take a tight hold on his right rein in attempt to prevent it from hanging out further. He added that rounding the home turn he experienced a severe cramp to his right hand and as a result this placed him at a distinct disadvantage as he was unable to ride 4 Wing Wo out to the finish with his usual vigour. He added upon return to the unsaddling enclosure he reported to Trainer S H Cheong the difficulties he had riding his mount out due to the severe cramp to his right hand and further made this report to the Stewards on return to scale. Trainer S H Cheong confirmed the instructions given and also confirmed that Jockey Lao had reported to him post race that he had suffered severe cramp to his right hand, resulting in him being unable to ride 4 Wing Wo out in his usual vigour. Trainer S H Cheong informed the Stewards that he was satisfied with today’s ride under the circumstances. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards noted both their explanations, however Jockey W H Lao was told that he would be required to provide a medical report prior to riding again.
6 Hostwin Poseidon (L Corrales) -Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier partition and was then slow into stride. Rider reported that after his mount began awkwardly, his mount settled further back than anticipated and he was obliged to race in the kick back where 6 Hostwin Poseidon raced greenly in the early stages. He added when placed under pressure with the whip 6 Hostwin Poseidon responded immediately and finished the race off strongly and he was satisfied with his mount’s performance.
8 Star Of Phoenix (S Ladjadj) -Shortly after the start was tightened for room between 10 Roaring Fans and 12 Win Win Hooray, both of which shifted ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Invincible (T Appie) -On entering the home straight was brushed by 11 Silent Height which was laying in.
11 Silent Height (D Barros) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
