Race Report

RACE-2 THE FORFAR (DIV 2) RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1600 METRES (67)

2 Franklin Lane (C F Chan) -Near the 1350 metres was inclined to lay in and brushed the running rail. Rider reported that near the 1050 metres his saddle slipped to the right side, placing him at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Rayson Warrior (W L Ho) -Jumped away awkwardly and brushed with 6 The Prime Side.
5 Mr Half Lamma (W H Lao) -Had a tendency to hang in throughout. Trainer W H Tse was informed that a warning had been placed against 5 Mr Half Lamma for its racing manners. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer W H Tse was informed that 5 Mr Half Lamma will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
6 The Prime Side (F Henrique) -Jumped away awkwardly and brushed with 4 Rayson Warrior.
7 River God Choi (S Nakano) -Raced wide without cover for the majority.
8 Thunder Bear (H Lam) -Near the 700 metres hung in despite the efforts of its rider and made contact with the running rail.
9 Cookson (T Appie) -Near the 600 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room by 6 The Prime Side which after improving into a run between 9 Cookson and 5 Mr Half Lamma was taken in by 5 Mr Half Lamma which shifted in when hanging in despite the efforts of its rider. After considering all of the circumstances, in particular the racing manners of 5 Mr Half Lamma, the Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning on 5 Mr Half Lamma in relation to its racing manners. Rider reported that as 9 Cookson has a tendency of being slow to begin and settle a long way back in its races, he was instructed by Trainer P Leyshan to try and get a good jump and have 9 Cookson in a position as close to the field as possible. He stated it was not his intention to lead, however after 9 Cookson had begun well, instead of restraining 9 Cookson to a rearward position, he elected to allow the gelding to stride forward where it was traveling comfortably albeit in the lead position. A post race veterinary examination of 9 Cookson which was beaten in excess of 43 lengths failed to reveal any significant abnormality. After taking into consideration that 9 Cookson suffered interference near the 600 metres, the Stewards took no further action against the gelding.
