Race Report

RACE-5 THE DARLINGTON RATING 45-0 (CLASS 4&5) 1350 METRES (88)

2 Numberone Mingxuan (J B Hamel) -Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and near the 100 metres shifted in and brushed 4 Fit Lite. Near the 50 metres continued to shift in under pressure and again brushed 4 Fit Lite.
3 Sepreeding (L Corrales) -Was brushed by 5 Black Pink on jumping away and a short distance later blundered badly causing its rider L Corrales to become unbalanced in the saddle. Leaving the 600 metres was taken wider on the track by 2 Numberone Mingxuan which shifted out to improve. Rider reported that shortly after the start his mount blundered badly and he immediately had concerns that the gelding had broken down. He stated that after a number of strides 3 Sepreeding began to stride freely, so he allowed his mount to stride forward to make up ground on the field. He added racing to the turn near the 600 metres 3 Sepreeding was awkward in its action again and as he had concerns for his mount’s welfare, he elected to try and keep it balanced until entering the home straight. He further added on straightening 3 Sepreeding began to stride freely again and he then elected to apply the whip where the gelding responded and finished the race off late to his surprise. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality other than that the gelding had cast its right front plate. Trainer N Moore was informed that he would be required to present 3 Sepreeding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 12 December 2020.
4 Fit Lite (M Tanaka) -Bumped with 7 River Exquisite on jumping away. Near the 700 metres shifted in when laying in and then had to be steadied away from the heels of 1 Harvest Year which at the same time shifted out after being eased away from the heels of 5 Black Pink which shifted in when not fully clear. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey C L Cheung the rider of 5 Black Pink with a severe reprimand and he was advised he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times. Near the 100 metres was brushed by 2 Numberone Mingxuan which shifted in under pressure. Near the 50 metres was again brushed by 2 Numberone Mingxuan which continued to shift in under pressure.
5 Black Pink (C L Cheung) -Brushed 3 Sepreeding on jumping away. Hung out rounding the first turn. Rider reported that his mount traveled well throughout, however weakened noticeably over the final 200 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K M Chin was informed that he would be required to present 5 Black Pink to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 12 December 2020.
6 River Applause (S Nakano) -Hung in shortly after the start despite the efforts of its rider. On entering the home straight when reining up his mount, Jockey S Nakano had accidentally positioned his reins over his head, resulting in Jockey S Nakano becoming unbalanced in the saddle for a short distance whilst correcting his reins. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 River Exquisite (T Appie) -Was bumped by 4 Fit Lite on jumping away.
