Race Report

RACE-1 THE MIAMI RATING 35-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1600 METRES (124)

1 Broadus (F Henrique) Near the 600 metres bumped with 5 Franklin Lane. Near the 500 metres was brushed by 4 Golden Bullseye which shifted out.
2 Honey Biscuit (M Tanaka) -Was crowded for room shortly after the start between 3 Deep Brother which was taken out slightly by 7 Fortune Giant and 4 Golden Bullseye which shifted in. Near the 25 metres was hampered when bumped by 8 First Right which shifted in when hanging in. Jockey K H Yu the rider of 8 First Right was issued a severe reprimand and advised that although his mount was inclined to hang in, he would nevertheless be expected to make a far greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground than he did on this occasion.
3 Deep Brother (C L Cheung) -Was marginally slow to begin and was then tightened for room between 2 Honey Biscuit which shifted in and 7 Fortune Giant which after jumping awkwardly shifted out. Near the 1300 metres commenced to race ungenerously and had to be steadied when hanging out across the heels of 6 Pride Sprint. For some distance thereafter continued to race ungenerously and near the 1000 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Golden Bullseye.
4 Golden Bullseye (L Corrales) -Near the 500 metres shifted out and brushed with 1 Broadus. Rider reported his mount traveled well until the 800 metres, however when the pace of the race quickened near the 800 metres 4 Golden Bullseye was left footed, did not respond to his riding thereafter and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Franklin Lane (W H Lao) -Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Near the 600 metres bumped with 1 Broadus. Had a tendency to lay out throughout.
7 Fortune Giant (T Appie) -Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.
8 First Right (K H Yu) -A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was severely lame in the left hind leg. Trainer C F Chan was informed that 8 First Right will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced and it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
9 General Fu Hao (W L Ho) -Near the 1500 metres was checked. Near the 700 metres momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of 7 Fortune Giant which was inclined to lay in and away from 6 Pride Sprint. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1500 metres where 9 General Fu Hao was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 9 General Fu Hao (W L Ho), 5 Franklin Lane (W H Lao) and 6 Pride Sprint (H Lam). Jockey W H Lao the rider of 5 Franklin Lane was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1500 metres, he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear of 9 General Fu Hao which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey W H Lao’s license to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 20 March 2021. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey W H Lao’s disciplinary record, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
