Race Report

RACE-4 THE BOSTON RATING 70-45 (CLASS 3) 1510 METRES (127)

2 Rose Hero (K H Yu) -Near the 400 metres brushed with 8 Hostwin Prosperits.
3 Nuclear Fusion (W L Ho) -Near the 700 metres momentarily raced in restricted room between 1 Still So Cute which shifted out slightly and 2 Rose Hero which shifted in slightly away from 8 Hostwin Prosperits.
4 Knows It All (D Barros) -Tightened for room shortly after the start between 7 Hostwin Aurora which shifted out and 9 Qian Gua which shifted in after jumping away awkwardly. Trainer K H Leong was informed that a warning had been placed against 9 Qian Gua in relation to its racing manners. Shortly after the start then had to be steadied when tightened for room between 7 Hostwin Aurora which was taken out slightly by 1 Still So Cute and 9 Qian Gua which shifted in after being bumped by 3 Nuclear Fusion which shifted in after bumping with 6 The Moon's Back. Was checked near the 1300 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed that 4 Knows It All was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer W Smith was informed that 4 Knows It All will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary clearance is produced.
5 Mr Fortune (H Lam) -Was slow to begin.
6 The Moon's Back (W H Lao) -Near the 1300 metres was eased when hampered by 9 Qian Gua which after being bumped by 8 Hostwin Prosperits shifted out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Hostwin Aurora (F Henrique) -Was hampered near the 1300 metres.
8 Hostwin Prosperits (C L Cheung) -Was checked, clipped heels and blundered near the 1300 metres. For some distance thereafter raced fiercely. Near the 400 metres brushed with 2 Rose Hero.
9 Qian Gua (B Yamzon) -Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. Shortly after the start was bumped by 3 Nuclear Fusion which shifted in after bumping with 6 The Moon's Back. Was unable to be ridden out over the concluding stages when racing close to the heels of 3 Nuclear Fusion which shifted in slightly under pressure. The Stewards intend to question Jockey B Yamzon regarding his ride in the home straight at the racemeeting on Saturday, 23 January 2021.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1300 metres where 9 Qian Gua and 4 Knows It All were checked and 8 Hostwin Prosperits had to be checked, clipped heels and blundered. Evidence was taken from the riders of 10 City Gold (M Tanaka), 1 Still So Cute (L Corrales), 8 Hostwin Prosperits (C L Cheung) and 9 Qian Gua (B Yamzon). Jockey M Tanaka the rider of 10 City Gold pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 1 Still So Cute which was taken in onto 8 Hostwin Prosperits which had to be checked, clipped the heels of 1 Still So Cute, blundered and as a result shifted out making heavy contact with 9 Qian Gua which in turn had to be checked and lost ground. 4 Knows It All which was following 9 Qian Gua was also checked in consequence. Jockey M Tanaka’s license to ride in races was suspended for two racemeetings covering the meetings of Saturday, 27 March and Saturday, 3 April 2021. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey M Tanaka’s guilty plea, his disciplinary record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
