Race Report

RACE-1 THE SAN DIEGO RATING SPECIAL (SPECIAL) 1500 METRES (129)

1 Grand Double Win (D Barros) -Stood flat footed, jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that in view of the barrier manners of 1 Grand Double Win, the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
2 Ronson (W L Ho) -Near the 800 metres had its hindquarters contacted by 11 Master Paradise which shifted out slightly. Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
3 Wing Wo (F Henrique) -Near the 1300 metres was bumped by 8 Fortune Wai Wai which was taken out by 5 Hostwin Jupiter which was inclined to lay out and away from 11 Master Paradise. Raced wide without cover until the 800 metres.
4 Eclair Boom (S Ladjadj) -On entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between 10 Dare To Be and 2 Ronson. Was then obliged to be shift back in across the heels of 10 Dare To Be to obtain clear running. Near the 150 metres was eased when momentarily racing in restricted room to the inside of 10 Dare To Be which was taken in slightly by 2 Ronson which shifted in marginally when inclined to lay in before being corrected by its rider. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 Ronson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Over the concluding stages raced in restricted room and was brushed by 10 Dare To Be which was taken in by 2 Ronson which shifted in under pressure. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 Ronson a severe reprimand and he was advised that he is to ensure that he stops riding and straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.
6 Global Justice (M Tanaka) -Bumped with 7 Turquoise Square on jumping away. Was held up on entering the home straight and leaving the 300 metres was disappointed for a run to the inside of 4 Eclair Boom which after being disappointed for a run between 10 Dare To Be and 2 Ronson shifted in.
7 Turquoise Square (K H Yu) -Was bumped by 6 Global Justice on jumping away. Raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
8 Fortune Wai Wai (H Lam) -Near the 1300 metres bumped 3 Wing Wo when taken out by 5 Hostwin Jupiter. Then commenced to race ungenerously and near the 1200 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 5 Hostwin Jupiter which shifted in. For some distance thereafter continued to race ungenerously. Near the 500 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room between 7 Turquoise Square and 9 Royal Master which shifted out around the heels of 3 Wing Wo to improve when not fully clear. Jockey T Appie the rider of 9 Royal Master was severely reprimanded and was advised that he is to be sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Dare To Be (S Nakano) -Over the concluding stages brushed with 4 Eclair Boom when taken in by 2 Ronson which shifted in under pressure.
11 Master Paradise (C L Cheung) -Leaving the 900 metres commenced to race fiercely. Near the 800 metres shifted out slightly, made contact with the hindquarters of 2 Ronson and became unbalanced for a short distance.
12 Luen On Steed (Y M Choi) -Was slow to begin and lost ground. Trainer G Allendorf was informed that a warning had been issued against 12 Luen On Steed in relation to its barrier manners.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards to review the patrol films of the home straight where 4 Eclair Boom, 10 Dare To Be and 2 Ronson raced in close proximity. The patrols films were also reviewed by Mr. P Leyshan the trainer of 4 Eclair Boom who after viewing the films elected not to proceed with an objection. As the Stewards were also satisfied that there were insufficient grounds for an objection, correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
