Race Report

RACE-1 THE NEW ORLEANS RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1800 METRES (146)

1 Hyshem (B Yamzon) -Leaving the 500 metres raced up onto the heels of 8 Global Justice and had to be steadied. Was held up rounding the home turn and on entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between 8 Global Justice and 2 Superlative Choice. Was then held up and was unable to establish clear running until near the 100 metres.
2 Superlative Choice (C L Cheung) -Checked near the 1400 metres.
3 Tokai Shinsei (K H Yu) -Near the 1000 metres was taken wider on the track by 12 Franklin Lane which when racing fiercely shifted out. Thereafter raced wide without cover for the remainder. Near the 300 metres bumped with 9 Highspot and a short distance later was eased away from the heels of 5 Satono Eternal which shifted in under pressure before being corrected by its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Eclair Boom (L Corrales) -Brushed with 12 Franklin Lane shortly after the start. Leaving the 1500 metres commenced to race fiercely and was checked near the 1400 metres.
6 Sepreeding (S Ladjadj) -Near the 1400 metres was severely checked, made contact with the running rail and lost ground. Rider reported that after being severely checked near the 1400 metres his mount stumbled and as he had concerns that his mount may have been injured, he elected not to pressure his mount and as such was distant for the remainder of the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer N Moore was informed that he would be required to present 6 Sepreeding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 8 February 2021.
7 Wing Wo (Y M Choi) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
8 Global Justice (M Tanaka) -Was held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight was unable to establish clear running until near the 100 metres.
9 Highspot (D Barros) -Leaving the 800 metres momentarily raced in restricted room to the
inside of 12 Franklin Lane which shifted in slightly when laying in despite the efforts of its rider.
Near the 300 metres when the whip became entangled in the reins, shifted out and bumped with 3 Tokai Shinsei which at the same time shifted in slightly under pressure. A short distance later then had to be eased away from the heels of 12 Franklin Lane which shifted out under pressure. Jockey W H Lao the rider of 12 Franklin Lane was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
10 Dare To Be (S Nakano) -On entering the track cast its right front plate, then returned to saddling enclosure where it was subsequently reshod. Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. Passing the winning post on the first occasion commenced to race ungenerously and leaving the 1500 metres hung out and proved difficult to control. Raced fiercely in the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Honey Biscuit (T Appie) -Was buffeted shortly after the start between 9 Highspot and 5 Satono Eternal.
12 Franklin Lane (W H Lao) -Was fractious in the barriers.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1400 metres where 6 Sepreeding was severely checked and 2 Superlative Choice and 4 Eclair Boom were checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Superlative Choice (C L Cheung), 4 Eclair Boom (L Corrales), 6 Sepreeding (S Ladjadj) and 10 Dare To Be (S Nakano). It was established that near the 1400 metres 6 Sepreeding was severely checked, made contact with the running rail and lost its rightful running when tightened for room by 4 Eclair Boom which when racing fiercely shifted into a tight position to the inside of 10 Dare To Be which after shifting out when hanging out, then shifted back in when being corrected by its rider. In this incident 4 Eclair Boom was checked and 2 Superlative Choice which was following 6 Sepreeding was also checked in consequence. After taking into consideration all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no action against anyone rider, however Trainer S Chow was informed that in view of the racing manners of 10 Dare To Be, the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
