Race Report

RACE-5 THE KANSAS CITY RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (150)

1 Casino Mok (C L Cheung) -Was brushed by 3 Pursuing Eagle shortly after the start. Leaving the 800 metres when the pace of the race slowed, raced fiercely on the heels of 6 Lucky Gold. Over the final 50 metres was obliged to alter course outwards when 6 Lucky Gold shifted out under pressure. Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 6 Lucky Gold was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
2 Circuit Miles (T Appie) -Rounding the home turn was taken wider on the track by 10 Heartgoodallwell which shifted out to improve.
3 Pursuing Eagle (W L Ho) -On jumping away, shifted in and brushed 1 Casino Mok. Near the 1100 metres shifted out and then had to be steadied away from the heels of 6 Lucky Gold which at the same time shifted in. Checked near the 750 metres. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Draft Camp (S Ladjadj) -Raced fiercely in the early stages. Near the 750 metres had to take evasive action away from the heels of 3 Pursuing Eagle which lost ground after being checked. Raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
5 Silent Height (D Barros) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Lucky Gold (B Yamzon) -Prior to the race Trainer J Lau informed the Stewards that he would be instructing Jockey B Yamzon to lead should circumstances permit, which were consistent to the instructions issued at its most recent start, whereby 6 Lucky Gold jumped awkwardly and failed to show its customary early speed. Over the final 50 metres shifted out under pressure.
10 Heartgoodallwell (C F Chan) -Shortly after the start was bumped by 12 King Of Champions which shifted out.
12 King Of Champions (M Tanaka) -Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped 10 Heartgoodallwell.
13 Chappo (Y M Choi) -Near the 750 metres had to be checked away from the heels of 4 Draft Camp which shifted out after taking evasive action away from the heels of 3 Pursuing Eagle which lost ground after being checked.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 750 metres where was 3 Pursuing Eagle checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Casino Mok (C L Cheung), 3 Pursuing Eagle (W L Ho) and 5 Silent Height (D Barros). Jockey D Barros the rider of 5 Silent Height pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 750 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 3 Pursuing Eagle which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey D Barros’ license to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting, covering the meeting of Saturday, 10 April 2021. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey D Barros’ guilty plea, his disciplinary record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
