Race Report

RACE-4 THE CHENGDU RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (316)

3 Turquoise Success (S Nakano) -Was fractious in the barriers, jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition. Shortly after the start was steadied when tightened for room between 6 Beauty Supreme which shifted in after jumping away awkwardly and 2 Show Down which was taken out by 7 Flash Shadow. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. Was held up on entering the home straight and was unable to establish clear running until leaving the 200 metres where it was shifted to the outside of 2 Show Down. Near the 150 metres shifted out under pressure and brushed 4 Marqula. Rider reported that he was instructed to lead, however his mount was fractious in the barriers and then jumped away awkwardly when the start was effected. He added that a short distance after the start, he had to steady his mount when tightened for room between 2 Show Down and 6 Beauty Supreme, and as a result settled further back than anticipated. Trainer G Allendorf confirmed the instructions and stated that as 3 Turquoise Success has a tendency to over race in its races, he was satisfied with the ride and where the horse was positioned after it had jumped away awkwardly. The Stewards noted their explanations.
4 Marqula (B Yamzon) -Jumped away awkwardly. Leaving the 1300 was momentarily eased away from the heels of 6 Beauty Supreme which shifted out slightly when laying out and away from 2 Show Down. Near the 150 metres was brushed by 3 Turquoise Success which shifted out under pressure.
5 Ocean Warrior (L Corrales) -Brushed with 8 Bring Me Glory on jumping away.
6 Beauty Supreme (C L Cheung) -Jumped away awkwardly.
8 Bring Me Glory (F Henrique) -Brushed with 5 Ocean Warrior on jumping away. Rider reported that despite urging his mount along in the early stages 8 Bring Me Glory never traveled comfortably, was not striding out freely and blundered. He added as he had concerns, he elected to desist placing his mount under pressure for the remainder of the race. He further stated that in his opinion 8 Bring Me Glory may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer C F Chan was informed that he would be required to present 8 Bring Me Glory to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 11 July 2021 and in addition 8 Bring Me Glory will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey W H Lao the rider of 7 Flash Shadow pleaded guilty to a charge under MJC Rule MJC 121 (v) in that after weighing out, he changed his vest and his boots without the permission of the Stewards. He was issued a monetary fine of HK$2,000. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

Jockey W H Lao the rider of 7 Flash Shadow pleaded guilty to charge under MJC Rule 141 (ii) in that he returned to scale at 122.2lbs which was in excess of 2lbs over his declared weight of 120lbs. He was issued a monetary fine of HK$2,000. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards were satisfied that this had no effect over the overall placings of the race. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
