Race Report

RACE-6 THE LIAONING RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1350 METRES (17)

1 Akeli Sword (S Nakano) -Near the 1250 metres knuckled.
2 Ashkari (B Yamzon) -Was slow to begin and lost ground. Trainer P Leyshan was advised that a warning would be placed on 2 Ashkari in relation to its racing manners. The Stewards questioned Jockey B Yamzon in relation to his ride between the 500 metres to the 300 metres. Jockey B Yamzon stated that his mount was slow to begin and thereafter never felt comfortable in its action and uncharacteristically had a low head carriage throughout the race. He added from the 600 metres he applied the whip down the shoulder of 2 Ashkari in a endeavor to improve, however as his mount continued to feel awkward in its action and as he had concerns, he elected to keep his mount balanced until entering the home straight whereby he placed 2 Ashkari under pressure over the final 300 metres where the gelding finished its race off fairly. After considering all of the circumstances, whilst the Stewards noted Jockey B Yamzon’s explanation, he was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to use more vigor sooner than he did on this occasion. He was nevertheless reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that he would be required to present 2 Ashkari to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday 3 October 2021.
3 Danish Star (L Corrales) -Was resaddled behind the barriers.
4 Wo Hero (J B Hamel) -Rider accidentally dropped his whip near the winning post.
6 Bring Me Glory (C L Cheung) -On entering the home straight shifted out across the heels of 4 Wo Hero and 5 Red Phoenix to obtain clear running.
7 Harvest Day (K H Yu) -A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Victory Thunder (T Appie) -Raced ungenerously rounding the first turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
