Race Report

RACE-5 THE EXETER RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1510 METRES (79)

3 Numberone Mingxuan (L Corrales) -Was resaddled behind the barriers. Was inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
4 Unforgettable (C L Cheung) -Was fractious in the barriers, reared on jumping away and lost considerable ground. Trainer M C Tam was informed that in relation to the gelding’s barrier manners, 4 Unforgettable will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
5 Sport General (B Yamzon) -Raced fiercely in the early stages.
6 Mongolian Dynasty (W H Lao) -Rider reported that passing the winning post on the first occasion his saddle slipped to the right side, and as a result he was unable to ride his mount out in his usual manner in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Golden Victory (T Appie) -A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainers K C Tse/K S Ho were informed that 8 Golden Victory will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced and in addition, 8 Golden Victory which was beaten 52 lengths, must perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial prior to racing again.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards the opportunity to review the video patrol films of the start to ascertain whether 4 Unforgettable had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was affected 4 Unforgettable, which had been fractious in the barriers, reared and lost considerable ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that 4 Unforgettable had been afforded a fair start, it was deemed a starter and correct weight was declared.
