Race Report

RACE-6 THE BORDEAUX RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (128)

1 Senior (K H Yu) -Was checked near the 50 metres.
2 For Community (S Nakano) -Shortly after the start hung out despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer S Chow was informed that a warning will be placed on 2 For Community in relation to its racing manners.
3 Gluck Winner (W H Lao) -Jumped away awkwardly.
4 Vibrant City (C L Cheung) -Was resaddled behind the barriers. Shortly after the start raced in restricted room between 5 Dawson and 10 Thar which shifted in slightly.
5 Dawson (L Corrales) -Shortly after the start was steadied when racing in restricted room between 4 Vibrant City which was taken in slightly by 10 Thar and 6 Winter Typhoon which shifted out. Apprentice Tesuri the rider of 6 Winter Typhoon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
6 Winter Typhoon (Apprentice Tesuri) -Near the 750 metres was inclined to lay out.
8 Finance Time (K F Choi) -Near the 950 metres bumped with 9 Heat Of The Battle.
9 Heat Of The Battle (T Appie) -Was slow to begin and shortly after the start was crowded for room between 8 Finance Time and 2 For Community which hung out despite the efforts of its rider. A warning was placed against 2 For Community in relation to its racing manners. Near the 950 metres bumped with 8 Finance Time.
10 Thar (Y M Choi) -Prior to the race, Trainer K S Wong advised the Stewards that from the wide draw he would be instructing Jockey Y M Choi to go back at the start to allow the gelding the opportunity to finish its race off. Near the 100 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 3 Gluck Winner which shifted out. Jockey W H Lao the rider of 3 Gluck Winner was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 50 metres where 1 Senior was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Senior (K H Yu) and 5 Dawson (L Corrales). Jockey L Corrales was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 50 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 1 Senior which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey L Corrales’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 26 February 2022. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his riding record, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
