Race Report

RACE-3 THE WASHINGTON RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1500 METRES (155)

3 Pursuing Eagle (K F Choi) -Leaving the 200 metres was checked.
4 Fifer (M Tanaka) -Raced wide without cover rounding the first turn. Rider reported that in his opinion, his mount failed to handle today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Luen On Poseidon (S Nakano) -Leaving the 1000 metres blundered in the going and became unbalanced.
6 Pearl Green (Y M Choi) -Was marginally slow to begin. Near the 750 metres brushed the running rail when racing tight to the inside of 8 Crown Of Gold. For some distance thereafter continued to race tight to the inside of 8 Crown Of Gold.
7 Circuit Miles (W H Lao) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Rider reported that his mount was slow to begin and after obtaining a position with cover behind 9 Lucky Do in the early stages, his mount was not traveling comfortably and may have resented racing in the kickback. He added that he then elected to shift to the outside of 9 Lucky Double on entering the back straight to see if 7 Circuit Miles would travel more comfortably in which it did, and as he was of the opinion that on today’s heavy track, the ground was better out wide, he allowed 7 Circuit Miles to improve and travel wide albeit without cover.
8 Crown Of Gold (H Lam) -Was marginally slow to begin.
10 Yuanno (K H Yu) -Raced fiercely rounding the first turn. Was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and near the 300 metres blundered in the going.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Steward inquired into an incident leaving the 200 metres where 3 Pursuing Eagle had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 3 Pursuing Eagle (K F Choi) and 10 Yuanno (K H Yu). Jockey K H Yu the rider of 10 Yuanno pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear or 3 Pursuing Eagle which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey K H Yu’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Friday, 1 April 2022. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his riding record, his guilty plea and the mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
