Race Report

RACE-3 THE SAN JOSE RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1200 METRES (178)

1 Star Of Yiu Cheung (C L Cheung) -Jumped away awkwardly.
2 Thanks Forever (A A Rivera) -Was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
3 Gon Sai Baau (S Nakano) -Rider reported that it was not his intention to lead in today’s race, however after being caught wide in the early stages, he elected to ride forward and take the lead position leaving the 800 metres.
4 Mountain Tiger (T Appie) -A post race veterinary examination revealed that 4 Mountain Tiger was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 4 Mountain Tiger will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
8 Hostwin Saturn (W H Lao) -Was slow to begin. Near the 500 metres was taken wider on the track by 6 Qian Gua which shifted out around 11 Lover Paradise to improve.
9 Top Mountainlegend (Apprentice Tesuri) -Was slow to begin. Leaving the 100 metres shifted out slightly and was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 5 Rock To Road.
10 Fortune Treasure (S H Huang) -Was slow to begin. Approaching the 900 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 City Gold which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey M Tanaka the rider of 7 City Gold was issued a severe reprimand and he was advised that he is to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times. For some distance leaving the 800 metres raced fiercely when awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 City Gold. Checked near the 250 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 250 metres where 10 Fortune Treasure was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 10 Fortune Treasure (S H Huang) and 4 Mountain Tiger (T Appie). Jockey T Appie the rider of 4 Mountain Tiger pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 250 metres he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear of 10 Fortune Treasure which had to be checked. Jockey T Appie’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Sunday, 17 April 2022. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his riding record, his guilty plea and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
