Race Report

RACE-3 THE ANSHAN RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (229)

2 Fortune Treasure (B Yamzon) -Leaving the 200 metres was carried out by 7 Diamond Rivers which shifted out around the heels of 3 Loxwood to obtain clear running.
3 Loxwood (C L Cheung) -Cast its right front plate. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Speedy Circuit (W H Lao) -Near the 1050 metres had to be checked. For some distance thereafter raced fiercely. Trainer N Moore was informed that he would be required to present 6 Speedy Circuit to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 1 May 2022.
7 Diamond Rivers (S H Huang) -Near the 1100 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 1 Electroplate Alloy which shifted in abruptly when not fully clear. Apprentice X C Liang the rider of 1 Electroplate Alloy was issued a severe reprimand and was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear or runners when shifting ground at all times.
8 Great Honour (K H Yu) -For some distance leaving the 900 metres raced fiercely on the heels of 5 King Of Glamour. Near the 200 metres and again near the 150 metres was eased away from the heels of 5 King Of Glamour which was taken out by 2 Fortune Treasure which in turn was taken out by 7 Diamond Rivers which shifted out around the heels of 3 Loxwood to obtain clear running. Jockey S H Huang the rider of 7 Diamond Rivers was issued a severe reprimand and was advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts. A post race swab was taken for analysis. Rider was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance of 8 Great Honour today, other than in his opinion it may be better suited to surfaces with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W K Lam was informed that he would be required to present 8 Great Honour to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 1 May 2022.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1050 metres where 6 Speedy Circuit was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 6 Speedy Circuit (W H Lao) and 1 Electroplate Alloy (Apprentice X C Liang) in the presence of his Master, Trainer M C Tam. Apprentice X C Liang the rider of 1 Electroplate Alloy was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1050 metres he permitted his mount to shift in abruplty when insufficiently clear of 6 Speedy Circuit which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Apprentice X C Liang’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of Saturday, 9 July and Friday, 22July 2022. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his disciplinary record, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
