Race Report

RACE-3 THE PATNA RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1500 METRES (278)

2 Circuit Miles (B Yamzon) -Was marginally slow to begin.
3 Association Eight (K H Yu) -Hung out on jumping away despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer C W Choi was informed that a warning had been placed on 3 Association Eight in relation to its racing manners. Raced wide without cover for the majority. Leaving the 100 metres shifted out slightly under pressure and brushed 4 Top Mountainlegend. Over the concluding stages was bumped by 4 Top Mountainlegend which shifted in under pressure.
4 Top Mountainlegend (Apprentice X C Liang) -Leaving the 100 metres was brushed by 3 Association Eight which shifted out slightly under pressure. Over the concluding stages shifted in under pressure and bumped 3 Association Eight.
5 Snow Storm (L Corrales) -Cast left front plate.
6 King Of Glamour (Apprentice Tesuri) -Raced wide without cover until the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 River Unicorn (S H Huang) -Shortly after the start had to be steadied when tightened for room between 10 Partners' Fortune and 9 Star Of City Gold which was taken out by 3 Association Eight which hung out despite the efforts of its rider. A warning was placed against 3 Association Eight in relation to its racing manners.
9 Star Of City Gold (T Appie) - Leaving the 800 metres bumped with 10 Partners' Fortune.
10 Partners' Fortune (S Nakano) - Leaving the 800 metres bumped with 9 Star Of City Gold.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the patrol films of the home straight. At the same time the Stewards considered an objection by Mr. S H Cheong the trainer of 4 Top Mountainlegend (Apprentice X C Liang) being declared 2nd place against 3 Association Eight (K H Yu) being declared the winner by the Judge for alleging interference over the final 200 metres. Evidence was taken from Mr. S H Cheong the trainer of 4 Top Mountainlegend and Apprentice X C Liang, and Mr. C W Choi the trainer of 3 Association Eight and Jockey K H Yu. It was established that leaving the 100 metres 3 Association Eight shifted out slightly under pressure and brushed 4 Top Mountainlegend and then over the concluding stages 4 Top Mountainlegend shifted in under pressure and bumped 3 Association Eight. After considering all the evidence and the beaten margin of a neck, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not occurred 4 Top Mountainlegend would have beaten 3 Association Eight. They therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
