Race Report

RACE-4 TREASURE ISLAND RESORTS WORLD MACAU DERBY (TRIPLE CROWN - 2nd Leg) 4YO (GROUP 1) 1800 METRES (318)
This race was rescheduled to start at 5:45pm.

1 Bygone Era (L Corrales) -For some distance near the 1500 metres raced fiercely on the heels of 4 Cumberbatch.
2 Pursuing Eagle (Y M Choi) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Yuanno (M Tanaka) -Raced wide without cover until near the 1100 metres.
4 Cumberbatch (S H Huang) -Hung out on jumping away. Raced fiercely in the early stages. Near the 400 metres was bumped by 1 Bygone Era which shifted out.
5 Cheers Brothers (C L Cheung) -Was slow to begin and shortly after the start shifted out slightly and had to be steadied away from the heels of 13 Who Loves Sushi which at the same time shifted in slightly. Near the 400 metres was checked, clipped heels and blundered.
8 Mystery Dancer (S Nakano) -At the crossing leaving the 1400 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 6 Out To Win. Approaching the 100 metres was checked.
11 Breezy Artax (A A Rivera) -Cast a plate in the parade ring and had to be reshod. Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and passed fit to start. Near the 750 metres had to be steadied when racing fiercely on the heels of 10 Lucky Double.
14 Breeze 'N' Luna (K F Choi) -Near the 400 metres was taken outwards by 4 Cumberbatch which was taken out after being bumped by 1 Bygone Era which shifted out. Near the 100 metres was momentarily eased away from the heels of 12 City Gold Planet which shifted out slightly under pressure.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 400 metres where 5 Cheers Brothers was checked, clipped heels and blundered. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Bygone Era (L Corrales), 4 Cumberbatch (S H Huang), 5 Cheers Brothers (C L Cheung) and 14 Breeze 'N' Luna (K F Choi). Jockey L Corrales the rider of 1 Bygone Era was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rules of Racing 132 (i) in that near the 400 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 4 Cumberbatch bumping that runner outwards onto 14 Breeze 'N' Luna which in turn had to be steadied outwards resulting in 5 Cheers Brothers having to be checked, clipped the heels of 14 Breeze 'N' Luna and blundered. Jockey L Corrales’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings, being the first two meetings of the 2022-23 Racing Season with dates to be advised in due course. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey L Corrales his riding record and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 100 metres where 8 Mystery Dancer (S Nakano) was checked. Evidence was taken for the riders of 3 Yuanno (M Tanaka) and 8 Mystery Dancer (S Nakano). Jockey M Tanaka the rider of 3 Yuanno pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that approaching the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 8 Mystery Dancer which had to be checked. Jockey M Tanaka’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting, being the third meeting of the 2022-23 Racing Season with the date to be advised in due course. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey M Tanaka’s guilty plea, his riding record and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
