RACE-4 MACAU GOLD CUP (TRIPLE CROWN - 3RD LEG) (GROUP 1) 1800 METRES (344)

2 Qian Gua (Y M Choi) -Was slow to begin.
7 Sacred Magnate (K F Choi) -Cast its left front plate during the run.
8 Cheers Brothers (C L Cheung) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
9 Electroplate Alloy (Apprentice X C Liang) -The Stewards questioned Apprentice X C Liang regarding the tactics adopted on 9 Electroplate Alloy in the early and middle stages of the race. Apprentice X C Liang stated that he was instructed to go forward after the start however if pressured by other runners, he was to take hold of his mount and take a sit. Apprentice X C Liang further stated that in the early stages when pressured by 1 Star of Yiu Cheung he attempted to take hold of his mount and allow that runner to cross, however his mount was reluctant to settle at that stage and continued to improve to the inside of 1 Star of Yiu Cheung until near the 1000 metres where he was eventually able to allow that runner to cross to the lead. Apprentice X C Liang stated that after viewing the patrol films and in hindsight, he should have made more of an effort to restrain his mount near the 1500 metres to allow 1 Star of Yiu Cheung to cross to the lead and give his mount some respite. After taking into consideration Apprentice X C Liang’s relative inexperience and whilst the Stewards noted his explanation on this occasion, he was advised that his ride would be referred to the Club’s Jockey Training Program Panel for review. He was further reminded of his obligations to always ride his mounts in a manner as to leave no room for query. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Snow Storm (Apprentice A Liu) -Jumped away awkwardly. Near the 1500 metres was eased away from the heels of 6 Bygone Era which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey L Corrales the rider of 6 Bygone Era was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
