Race Report

RACE-5 THE SHANTOU RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1350 METRES (32)

1 Beauty Legend (L Corrales) -Near the 200 metres was bumped and became unbalanced on two occasions. Was brushed outwards near the 50 metres.
2 Hot Spring Project (B Yamzon)- Jumped inwards and bumped 7 Beautiful Nineteen and became unbalanced. Cast it right front plate.
4 Who Fancies You (C L Cheung)- Commenced awkwardly and lost ground (2L).
8 Sheng Tong Master (M Tanaka) -Raced three wide.
9 Hostwin Ace (Y M Choi) -Tailed off throughout before making ground in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer N Moore was informed to present 9 Hostwin Ace to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 23 October 2022.
10 Bravo Qiji (S H Huang) -Shortly after the start was bumped by 12 Destney on several occasions and became unbalanced. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 10 Bravo Qiji, Trainer Y C Fung stated that he had not expected such a forward showing, however stated that the filly had been working well in the lead up to today’s race and in his opinion was suited by the tempo of today’s event.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored and at the same time the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey L Corrales the rider of 1 Beauty Legend, the 5th placed horse against 12 Destney (Apprentice X C Liang) the 4th placed horse alleging interference in the home straight. Evidence was taken from Jockey L Corrales in the presence of Mr. K H Leong the trainer of 1 Beauty Legend and Apprentice X C Liang. On the evidence, the
Stewards could not be satisfied that should the interference not have occurred, 1 Beauty Legend would have beaten 12 Destney home, and as such dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.

At a subsequent inquiry Apprentice X C Liang the rider of 12 Destney was severely reprimanded for attempting to shift his mount out approaching the 200 metres resulting in his mount making heavy contact with 1 Beauty Legend which became slightly unbalanced on two occasions and further he permitted his mount to shift out near the 50 metres whilst riding it along resulting in 12 Destney shifting out and brushing 1 Beauty Legend.
