Race Report

RACE-1 THE DUSSELDORF RATING 35-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1800 METRES (33)

2 City Gold Master (C L Cheung)- Leaving the straight on the first occasion was hampered when tightened for room between 5 Fortune Wai Wai and 3 Wealthy Sun which shifted out. Beaten favorite. Rider stated that in his opinion his mount is better suited to 1500 metres races.
3 Wealthy Sun (Apprentice A Liu)- Was marginally slow to begin and had to be steadied when tightened for room between 4 The Macallan and 10 Wealthy Emperor. Raced keenly rounding the turn into the back straight.
5 Fortune Wai Wai (M Tanaka)- Leaving the straight on the first occasion became unbalanced when brushed by 2 City Gold Master which shifted out slightly after being taken wider by 3 Wealthy Sun. Steadied off heels passing the 1200 metres.
6 Grande Fortune (S Nakano)- Brushed the side of the barrier on jumping away and became unbalanced. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Pay Me (S H Huang)- After passing the 1200 metres when the pace steadied had to be restrained off the heels 10 Wealthy Emperor.
8 Destiny Flight (K F Choi)- Near the 600 metres steadied from the heels of 12 King Of Champions which was giving ground.
10 Wealthy Emperor (Apprentice Tesuri) -Passing the winning post on the first occasion was hampered by 7 Pay Me which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
12 King Of Champions (Y M Choi)- Commenced to give ground from the 700 metres. Rider stated that the gelding was not comfortable in its action and was making an unusual respiratory noise. Beaten in excess of 22 lengths. Trainers K C Tse/P Leyshan were informed to present 12 King Of Champions to the Veterinary Hospital on Sunday, 30 October 2022 for a thorough Veterinary examination including an endoscopic examination. In addition, Trainers K C Tse/P Leyshan were informed that 12 King Of Champions will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards questioned Jockey S Nakano the rider of 6 Grande Fortune (S Nakano) regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, in particular from the 600 metres. He explained that he had been instructed to ride 6 Grande Fortune where it was comfortable and that the gelding settled at the rear of the field despite his urgings. He added that 6 Grande Fortune had a tendency to lay out turning out of the straight and approaching the 600 metres he was reluctant to improve around horses as he would have been taken very wide on the track. He further added that he was unable to improve until entering the home straight at which point he obtained a run to the inside of 2 City Gold Master. He said that 6 Grande Fortune again had a tendency to lay out when under pressure in the straight. The Stewards noted Jockey S Nakano’s explanation however he was spoken advisedly with regards to this vigor.

The Stewards inquired into an incident passing the winning post on the first occasion. Evidence was taken from the riders of 7 Pay Me (S H Huang) and 10 Wealthy Emperor (Apprentice Tesuri). On the evidence it was established that 7 Pay Me shifted in before being corrected resulting in 10 Wealthy Emperor being hampered. Jockey S H Huang the rider of 7 Pay Me was severely reprimanded and told to leave sufficient room to runners on his inside in similar circumstances.

The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the home straight on the first occasion. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 City Gold Master (C L Cheung) and 3 Wealthy Sun (Apprentice A Liu). On the evidence it was established that leaving the straight on the first occasion 2 City Gold Master was hampered when tightened for room between 5 Fortune Wai Wai and 3 Wealthy Sun which shifted out before being corrected by its rider. Jockey A Liu the rider of 3 Wealthy Sun was reprimanded and notified that he must make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground when in similar circumstances.
