Race Report

RACE-1 THE MADRAS (DIV-2) RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1200 METRES (38)

4 Golden Legend (C L Cheung)- Was marginally slow to begin, and then had to be checked when 6 Yiu Cheung Prince was bumped inwards by 8 Hundred Victories which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. As a result, lost ground (2L). Stewards questioned Jockey C L Cheung the rider of 4 Golden Legend regarding the tactics adopted upon the gelding from the home turn and the early part of the straight. He stated that around the 400 metres, he had to check from the heels of 7 Wild Diamond which came back on top of him. He added that on entering the straight he was undecided whether to take a run to the outside of 5 Georgian Ease before then electing to come to the inside of that horse. He said that at that point he was reluctant to place 4 Golden Legend under immediate pressure because he wanted to allow it time to become balanced. He further added that the gelding was one paced when placed under pressure in the straight and would prefer a firmer track surface. Stewards noted his comments.
5 Georgian Ease (B Yamzon)- Shortly after the start, became unbalanced when bumped by 10 Wealthy Land which shifted out. At the 600 metres when pulling hard was shifted to the outside of 7 Wild Diamond and in doing so clipped the heels of that gelding and bumped 1 General Fu Hao which became unbalanced.
6 Yiu Cheung Prince (S Nakano)- Slightly slow to begin.
7 Wild Diamond (Apprentice Tesuri) - Beaten in excess of 29 lengths. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer C F Chan was informed to present 7 Wild Diamond to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 5 November 2022.
8 Hundred Victories (M Tanaka)- Tightened for room and lost its position near the 700 metres.
9 House Of Power (W H Lao)- Raced for wide without cover.
10 Wealthy Land (Apprentice A Liu)- Hampered when tightened for room between 6 Yiu Cheung Prince and 2 Powerful Steed near the 700 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY: The Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 700 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 8 Hundred Victories (M Tanaka), 10 Wealthy Land (Apprentice A Liu) and 2 Powerful Steed (K H Yu). It was established that approaching the 700 metres, 10 Wealthy Land was hampered when brushed outwards by 6 Yiu Cheung Prince which rolled out marginally. As a result 10 Wealthy Land contacted 2 Powerful Steed.10 Wealthy Land then shifted in slightly, resulting in 8 Hundred Victories being tightened for room and losing its position. In the circumstances, Stewards did not hold anyone rider responsible for this incident, but nevertheless notified all riders that they must do their utmost to protect their fellow riders at all times.
