Race Report

RACE-3 THE HIROSHIMA RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (60)

1 Sheng Tong Viva (L Corrales)- Beaten favorite. Rider stated when questioned that his mount commenced well, however was a beaten horse about the 500 metres and felt amiss in its action in the straight. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W K Lam was informed that he would be required to present 1 Sheng Tong Viva to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 26 November 2022.
2 Top Mountainlegend (K H Yu)- Raced four wide without cover.
3 Breezy Artax (K F Choi)- Brushed the side of the barrier stall when the gates were released, unbalancing the rider. Raced very wide without cover.
5 Subtle Mind (M Tanaka)- Jumped outwards and bumped the side of the barrier stall and then made contact with 6 Beauty Life. Shortly after the start was hampered when tightened for room between 1 Sheng Tong Viva and 6 Beauty Life, which after becoming unbalanced shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
6 Beauty Life (X C Liang)- On jumping away became very unbalanced when bumped by 5 Subtle Mind. Approaching the 1200 metres lost its position when tightened for room between 4 Pearl Green and 5 Subtle Mind which after being taken out slightly by 11 Ventures Elite then made contact with 6 Beauty Life (see inquiry).Thereafter raced ungenerously and had a tendency to lay in in the straight.
7 River Unicorn (S H Huang)- Was marginally slow to begin.
8 Everlasting Praise (B Yamzon)- Stood flat footed when the gates were released and lost ground (2L). Failed to muster speed despite the urgings of its rider and tailed the field. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 8 Everlasting Praise will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Chinese Hero (C L Cheung)- Passing the 200 metres had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 11 Ventures Elite which shifted out after being struck with the whip. Jockey Y M Choi the rider 11 Ventures Elite was reprimanded and notified that he must exercise better control over his mounts in similar circumstances in future.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 1200 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 4 Pearl Green (S Nakano), 5 Subtle Mind (M Tanaka), and 6 Beauty Life (X C Liang). It was established that approaching the 1200 metres 6 Beauty Life lost its position when tightened for room between 4 Pearl Green and 5 Subtle Mind, which after being taken out slightly by 11 Ventures Elite then made contact with 6 Beauty Life and became turned, resulting in its rider being unable to relieve the pressure. In all the circumstances, the Stewards deemed this a racing incident but nevertheless they notified all riders to exercise utmost care in similar circumstances in future.
