Race Report

RACE-1 THE SOKO ISLAND (Div.1) RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1500 METRES (83)

2 River Arrow (Y M Choi)- Was slow to begin, then ran off rounding the turn at the 1200 metres and was eased out of the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that 2 River Arrow is suspended from racing until such time that it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
3 Hot Spring Project (M Tanaka)- Jockey M Tanaka when questioned regarding his riding in the straight, stated that his mount was laying out throughout the race and was not entirely comfortable in today’s track conditions. He added he was slapping 3 Hot Spring Project down the shoulder through the middle stages, but due to his mount laying out, he elected to keep it balanced which afforded him greater control. He believed it was a beaten horse at the 600 metres and as such he was reluctant to place it under pressure upon straightening. He further added that inside the 200 metres, he did use the whip, however 3 Hot Spring Project did not respond as he would have expected. Jockey M Tanaka was reminded of his obligations to ensure he rides all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query.
4 Wealthy Sun (Apprentice A Liu)- Approaching the 500 metres when improving, then had to be steadied when held up behind 9 Nathan Success. Passing the 100 metres, shifted out under pressure and had to be corrected by its rider.
5 Beautiful Beach (K H Yu)- Approaching the 1400 metres was inconvenienced by 8 Wing Wo which shifted in under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Apprentice Tesuri the rider of 8 Wing Wo was spoken to advisedly.
6 Beauty Legend (B Yamzon)- Commenced a little awkwardly and lost ground.
10 Hostwin Ace (C L Cheung)- Passing the 1400 metres became unbalanced after being brushed by 11 Golden Legend.
11 Golden Legend (Apprentice J Balicol)- Approaching the 1400 metres had to be steadied from the heels of 5 Beautiful Beach and as a result became a little unbalanced.
