Race Report

RACE-4 THE SOKO ISLAND (Div.2) RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1500 METRES (86)

1 Another Pharoah (K F Choi)- Resaddled behind the barriers.
2 Flying Rock (Apprentice J Balicol)- Was slow to begin (1L). Was unable to muster speed and trailed the field despite the urging of its rider before making ground in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Warrior Spirit (C L Cheung) -Commenced awkwardly, unbalanced its rider and lost ground (1L). Rounding the turn into the back straight, threw its head up, hung out and raced extremely ungenerously for some considerable distance. A warning was placed against the gelding for its racing manners today.
4 Famous Rainbow (B Yamzon)- After being loaded into barrier stalls became fractious. Was then removed from barrier stall, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.
8 Yings Fans (S H Huang) -Laid out for a short distance after entering the back straight.
11 Wealthy Emperor (Y M Choi)- Passing the 300 metres was checked (see inquiry report).
12 Joyful Commander (K H Yu)- After leading was eased down inside the 100 metres. Rider explained his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and for this reason he eased it down over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident passing the 300 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 8 Yings Fans (S H Huang) and 11 Wealthy Emperor (Y M Choi). Jockey S H Huang the rider of 8 Yings Fans pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that passing the 300 metres he rode his mount out when insufficiently clear, resulting in 11 Wealthy Emperor having to be checked. In lieu of a two racemeeting suspension, Jockey S H Huang will be fined 50% of his total earnings for the two upcoming racemeetings in which he rides. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account the degree of interference, the level of carelessness and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
