Race Report

RACE-2 THE TIMARU RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (32)

1 Iron Alloy (H Lam) – Near the 200 metres when weakening was steadied when placed in restricted room for a number of strides. Compounded badly in the straight. Rider reported his mount raced keenly in the early and middle stages and in the latter stages resented racing in restricted room. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Rush'N Prince (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Dislodged rider on the way to the barriers and cantered for some distance before being captured. Was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Rider was also examined by the Club’s Medical officer and declared fit to race. Hung out for the majority of the event and raced wide without cover throughout. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 18th October 15.
4 Gold And Silver (W L Ho) – Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding in the concluding stages. Disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Winner Treasure (D Chong) –Was very slow to begin; Trainer W T Lai was informed that a warning had been placed on the horse for its barrier manners and should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken. Rider reported his mount was restless in the gates and didn’t jump well and as such he got further back than he would have wished. Poor performance, beaten in excess of 36 lengths. Trainer W T Lai was informed that 5 Winner Treasure will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial at which time it must be competitive. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Diamond Admire (C F Wong) –Was marginally slow to begin. After passing the 600 metres and until approaching the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve its position. In the straight had some difficulty obtaining a run before improving into a neat run to the inside of 1 Iron Alloy near the 100 metres. Near the 50 metres raced tight to the inside of 4 Gold And Silver which shifted in before being straightened by its rider.
8 Modena Success (M Cangas) –Was slow into stride. Near the 200 metres had to checked when disappointing for a run between 1 Iron Alloy which was compounding and 4 Gold And Silver which shifted in slightly under pressure.
