Race Report

RACE-6 THE AUCKLAND RATING 95-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1500 METRES (36)

3 King Creole (R Stewart) –Near the 1100 metres had to be eased off the heels of 7 Happy Fish which was being steadied and as a result lost some ground.
4 Advance Mission (R Curatolo) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Rider R Curatolo explained that it was his intentions to go to the front, however his mount did not have sufficient speed to cross the runners to his inside and he was then obliged to race wide without cover.
5 Sunshine Tacker (C F Wong) –Rider C F Wong explained that he had not been instructed to lead today, however his mount showed greater speed than those to his inside and he ended leading where his mount raced comfortably.
7 Happy Fish (M Cangas) – Near the 1100 metres when the pace steadied had to restrained off heels. When questioned Jockey M Cangas explained that it had been his intention to lead, however after being hampered and having to steady off heels near 1100 metres, he ended up further back than anticipated. Poor performance. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Sandtop (W L Ho) –Struck the inside gate on jumping away and lost some ground. Passing the 400 metres had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run.
9 Let Me Run (H Lam) –Over raced in the early and middle stages.
10 Best Season (K H Yu) –On arrival at barriers was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and found to be lame in the left foreleg and was subsequently withdrawn at 5:10pm.Trainer K S Wong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.
