Race Report

RACE-4 LISBOA 3YO CHALLENGE II RATING 3YO () 1200 METRES (58)
1 Every May (L Salles) –Had a tendency to lay out in the straight.
6 Mission Gdragon (C Perkins) –Over raced through the early and middle stages.
7 Exceedingly Dragon (K H Yu) –Near the 900 metres when being restrained was hampered when tightened for room between 5 Great Party and 4 Rosary Diamond which shifted out. 7 Exceedingly Dragon then shifted in and inconvenienced 6 Mission Gdragon which had shifted out. The gelding then continue to race ungenerously and near the 800 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between 4 Rosary Diamond and 6 Mission Gdragon. Disappointing. Rider explained that following the incident in the back straight, his mount over raced and failed to respond despite his urgings. A swab was order to be taken from the horse and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Tuhao Power (W L Ho) –Checked near the 1000 metres. Laid out in the straight when struck with the whip resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount on two occasions.
9 Rider Navigator (L Corrales) –Near the 1100 metres was hampered and taken out off its course by 6 Mission Gdragon which, when over racing, shifted out after being bumped by 8 Tuhao Power which had also shifted out after being checked. At the entrance to the straight was held up when unable to obtain a run to the inside of 8 Tuhao Power where there was insufficient room.
10 River Treasure (J Cordero) –Shifted out on jumping away and made heavy contact with 1 Every May (L Salles) which shifted in, then had to be checked over the heels of 1 Every May (L Salles) when buffeted by 9 Rider Navigator which shifted out slightly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey L Salles, rider of 1 Every May was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that after passing the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shifted in when insufficiently clear of 8 Tuhao Power (W L Ho) which was tightened for room and had to be checked. Jockey L Salles was suspended for 3 racemeetings being the 27th, 28th November and the 4th of December 2015. In arriving the penalty, the Stewards took consideration the severity of the interference and Jockey L Salles’ poor careless riding record.He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
As a consequence of this incident, 6 Mission Gdragon(C Perkins) and 9 Rider Navigator (L Corrales) were hampered and taken out off their course.
