Race Report

RACE-6 THE PORTLAND RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (266)

1 Sharon Star (L Corrales) –Raced four wide before obtaining cover near the 600 metres. A post race veterinary examination of 1 Sharon Star which performed poorly revealed that it was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K C Chong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
3 Hongkong Winepro (W L Ho) –Was slow to begin.
5 Nam Kee's Treasure (W H Lao) –Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with 11 Only Pearl. Near the 1300 metres had to be restrained when close to the heels of 11 Only Pearl. Had a tendency to lay in throughout the event. Raced wide before obtaining a position closer to the rail near the 500 metres. Disappointing performance. Jockey W H Lao explained that his mount was fractious as in the barrier when the gates were released and for this reason its bridle shifted when the brow band of the bridle became displaced and this had placed him at a disadvantage in controlling his mount for the remainder of the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Highspot (A Calder) –Near the 400 metres was momentarily steadied when close to the heels of 5 Nam Kee's Treasure which shifted in slightly.
10 Victory Achiever (M Cangas) –Trainer K M Chin was severely reprimanded for presenting the gelding without blinkers.
12 Golden Harbour (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Commenced awkwardly, then dipped as a result lost ground.
