Race Report

RACE-1 THE SAMARA 2&3-YEAR-OLD (RATING 55-0) 1350 METRES (284)

2 Winner Fortune (Y M Choi) –Shifted in on jumping away and became extremely unbalanced due to having its hindquarters turned outwards after making contact with 6 Big Fortress. Raced three wide without cover throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of 2 Winner Fortune, the last start winner, Jockey Y M Choi explained that the gelding is better suited on the turf track.
3 Baohu Star (R Curatolo) –After jumping away was placed in restricted room for a short distance.
6 Big Fortress (K W Leong) –Jumped away awkwardly and was then checked when tightened for room between 2 Winner Fortune which shifted in and 3 Baohu Star which was taken out by 4 Lucky And Fortune. Poor performance. Jockey K W Leong explained that his mount failed to maintain contact with the field and did not stride out at any stage despite his urgings. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A swab sample was taken for analysis. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that he would be required to present 6 Big Fortress to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 11th June 2016. In addition as 6 Big Fortress was beaten in excess of 58 lengths it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and is required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial prior to racing again.
