Race Report

RACE-5 THE CASTLEFORD RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (89)

4 Valiant Soldier (W L Ho) - Checked and lost ground near the 600 metres. Near the 150 metres was held up and unable to improve when disappointed for a run between 3 Happy Bunny and 6 Diva Achiever. Continued to be held up until near the 50 metres and was obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.
5 My Club (A Calder) –Checked and lost ground near the 600 metres.
8 Master Of Cheers (L Corrales) –Dislodged rider on the way to the barriers. Was inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start. Jockey L Corrales was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding.
10 Hostwin Galaxy (M Wepner) –Raced fiercely in the early stages.
11 Krystrump (W Smith) –Raced wide without cover throughout.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey R Maia the rider of 7 Tuhao Power was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 600 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 9 Bingo Fantasy (K K Lai) which was taken in onto 4 Valiant Soldier (W L Ho) which had to be checked. In this incident 5 My Club (A Calder) which was following was checked in consequence. Jockey R Maia’s licence was suspended for two racemeetings, covering the meetings of 16th and 30th December 2016. He was advised of his Right of Appeal. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his riding record and degree of interference.
