Race Report

RACE-6 THE BLACKBURN RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (126)

1 Achilles Sword (W L Ho) –Raced wide without cover until the 600 metres. Was inconvenienced at the 500 metres. Near the 100 metres was momentarily inconvenienced by 9 Luenya Star. Rider reported that his mount was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer G Allendorf was informed to present 1 Achilles Sword to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 16th January 2017.
2 Hopefully Tomorrow (B Yamzon) –Inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.
3 Wyoming (W Smith) –Bumped by 9 Luenya Star on jumping away and lost ground.
4 Bright Alloy (H Lam) –Near the 600 metres was steadied off the heels of 1 Achilles Sword, which when losing ground shifted in. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 1 Achilles Sword was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
5 Winbeauty Infiniti (L Salles) –Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that in his opinion the gelding at this stage of its preparation is better suited on the sand track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
6 Canny Be A Hero (A Calder) –Near the 500 metres was steadied when tightened for room by 12 River Control which when over racing improved up onto the heels of 7 Stallion Elite and shifted out. As a consequence 1 Achilles Sword which was racing to the outside of 6 Canny Be A Hero was inconvenienced. On return to the saddling enclosure suffered a cardiac arrest.
7 Stallion Elite (L Corrales) –Was resaddled behind the barriers.
8 Machmaster (A Aucharuz) –Bumped by 1 Achilles Sword on jumping away. Near the 250 metres, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of 6 Canny Be A Hero which shifted in and away from 5 Winbeauty Infiniti which when weakening shifted in. In all the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
9 Luenya Star (Y M Choi) –Near the 150 metres, was steadied to avoid the heels of the weakening 5 Winbeauty Infiniti and was obliged to shift out to obtain clear running. As a consequence, 1 Achilles Sword which was to its outside was momentarily inconvenienced.
12 River Control (R Curatolo) –Near the 1300 metres when inclined to over race was momentarily tightened for room and was steadied when 7 Stallion Elite which was inclined to lay in, shifted in slightly before being immediately corrected by its rider. Thereafter continued to over race for some distance. Near the 500 metres improved up onto the heels of 7 Stallion Elite, was steadied and shifted out. Rounding the home turn was held up and unable to obtain clear running until the 300 metres. Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
